Ahead of the official release date for his new album The Devil Don't Sleep, country music powerhouse Brantley Gilbert performed tracks off the forthcoming collection for the first time ever at his album release party on the Honda Stage, held at the iHeartRadio Theater in Los Angeles.
Accompanied by his live band, Gilbert opened his set with a raucous performance of The Devil Don't Sleep's lead single "The Weekend," an anthemic, electric guitar-driven track that features a hint of R&B.
"I wrote it with a guy named Andrew DeRoberts who is coming on the scene," Gilbert told host of the night, The AntMan of KNIX-Phoenix. "He's just an awesome writer. And when we wrote it, it was a good time and I couldn't help but think, 'How awesome would it be to play it live and get people amped up and stoked?'"
While keeping a strong vice grip on his brass knuckles-adorned mic, Gilbert kept the party going with his new tracks "Rockin' Chairs," "Outlaw In Me," "Tried To Tell Ya," and "It's About To Get Dirty," as well as his throwback hits including "Bottoms Up," "Country Must Be Country Wide," "One Hell Of An Amen," and his finale performance, "Kick It In the Sticks."
The Devil Don't Sleep is Gilbert's first album since 2014's Just As I Am, which earned platinum status in 2015. This feat follows the runaway success of his sophomore record, Halfway to Heaven, which also earned platinum status in May of 2014; so the pressures of releasing a fourth set was great for Gilbert and his team.
"It's been a long time coming. Three years, so we felt like we had to come to the table with a lot," he said of the album. "So all together it's like 26 songs on the deluxe edition. A lot of work went into this thing. [My band is] amazing. We came together with Dann Huff and put together something we hope all of you will get something out of and enjoy."
Gilbert will take the album on a supporting tour with Tucker Beathhard, Luke Combs, and Brian Davis. The trek launches on February 2 in Reading, Pennsylvania and will hit cities including Glens Falls, New York; Louisville, Kentucky; and Southaven, Mississippi before wrapping up on April 29 in Duluth, Minnesota.
Gilbert's The Devil Don't Sleep album arrives Friday, January 27. You can tune in and watch his entire album release party on the Honda Stage on Friday, January 27 at 9 p.m. local time.
