3.8 in the History of the Beatles

This is a daily chronological account of The Beatles. Since we also play selections on our show from the solo members, dates of interest for them are included.

8th in 1962 - The lads made their 1st appearance on the BBC TV programme Teenager's Turn, doing Roy Orbison's "Dream Baby" on the show.  In 2016 - Sir George Martin died. Following his death, Paul said [paraphrasing] that IF there was a 5th Beatle surely it must be Mr. Martin. (Personally I feel that Brian Epstein ought to be the 5th Beatle, for if it weren't for him there would be no George Martin, or at least he wouldn't have been the groups producer. Martin was relegated to making records by the comedians of the day at the time Epstein met with him. It was Epstein's insistence that Martin alone would work with the band. Epstein was the 1st genius! It was only after that bold move that we all began to know the second genius related to the Beatles meteoric rise, Sir George.)
